The British Embassy Office in Erbil has a vacancy for a Political and Press/Public Affairs assistant. We are looking for a talented graduate with a wide skill set, the ability to learn quickly, good inter-personal communications, and can work well in a team. 

Essential Criteria
Only applicants who meet the following criteria will be considered: 
- Holds a first or upper-second Bachelors Degree and has three or more years’ related work experience 
- Fluency in oral and written English and Kurdish

- Proven translation and interpretation skills as well as a proven ability to use Windows Office
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to build a network of contacts



Useful Criteria
The following skills would be useful but are not essential:
- Fluency in oral and written Arabic
- Previous media and/or political experience across a broad range of the spectrum

Job Description
The job holder would be required to undertake the following duties:
- Arrange meetings and programmes for visitors
- Liaise with the media on behalf of the British Embassy Office
- Translate documents from Kurdish to English and vice versa
- Undertake consecutive translation at press conferences, meetings, official functions
- Liaise with the KRG and all opposition parties on behalf of the British Embassy Office
- Monitor and undertake analysis of local media
- Undertake political research as directed

Salary and Benefits
The salary range starts at $ 14,352 per annum but is negotiable based upon experience and qualifications. There is also a generous package of allowances, leave, and training opportunities.
